I. Job Summary The Financial Analyst III – Capital Management is a member of the Finance department and will work cross functionally with other teams to analyze trends, forecast, metrics and perform analysis to support financial and operational business decisions as well as evaluate financial investment opportunities. The Financial Analyst III – Capital Management is located in Houston, Texas. This is currently a hybrid role and reports to the Sr Finance Manager, Capital Management. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Report, analyze and interpret complex financial and non-financial information to transform and better inform key stakeholders. Reviews month-end capital results and provides input on deviations from budget or forecast, as applicable. Provides recommendations for capital allocation decisions and future capital initiatives and projects. Provides assistance in preparing annual capital budgets, forecasts, reporting and financial reviews. Ensures the highest quality of the deliverables. Leverages industry-leading process improvement methodologies and prior operational or financial experience to provide insights to management and development of key financial performance measures Develops, manages and/or participates in action plans to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of operating directives. Exhibits a strong understanding of the business to determine the best method for achieving objectives. Proactively and effectively consults with other finance, accounting, area and corporate personnel in order to timely and efficiently achieve company-wide goals. Facilitate communication and understanding between key field finance and operations personnel and Corporate Finance. As requested, may participate in conducting project reviews, including validating economic return models and directing pro forma preparation and financial sensitivity analysis. Manage and conduct ad hoc analysis, as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must be in the Houston area; no relocations for this role.
  • Strong understanding of WM’s operations and service capabilities, or an ability to become a quick study.
  • Insatiably curious and collaborative problem solver with excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated individual that works well as part of a team but is also able to be a strong individual contributor.
  • Demonstrates a customer-focused approach and ability to partner with stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Operations, Leadership) and other functions.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and can balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Bachelor's degree (accredited) in Accounting, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience.
  • Five years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement).
