About The Position

The Human Resources Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing the highest level of compliance services to the organization. This position assists in implementing and executing systems and processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal standards, and internal policies. This role is a key contributor to building a proactive Compliance Center of Excellence by ensuring consistency, accuracy, and operational alignment.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of HR, compliance, or operations experience; exposure to Unemployment, Regulatory Reporting, Policy interpretation, background checks, and Accomodations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws related to Leaves, required workplace postings, and internal DOT compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with attention to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and familiarity with HRIS or applicant tracking systems.
  • Prior experience in a multi-state or large, distributed workforce environment.
  • Ability to analyze vendor reports and identify trends or issues.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with EHS team to ensure DOT-regulated roles meet regulatory and internal compliance standards for drug/alcohol testing, physicals, and driving records.
  • Monitor background checks and escalate or investigate as needed.
  • Keep current with federal, state, and local regulations impacting corporate and field branches and ER matters.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process automation, enhanced reporting, and improved documentation practice related to background checks, policies, and trainings
  • Assists with the administration of severance programs and related policies, including coordination of documentation, tracking agreements, and supporting compliance with applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Coordinates the collection and review of workforce demographic data to support timely and accurate EEO reporting and internal compliance reviews.
  • Support the annual policy review process
  • Provides administrative and compliance support for unemployment claims, including documentation management, deadline tracking, and collaboration with HR and Legal as needed
