About The Position

Our analytics community has hundreds of analytics professionals across Ally in communities focused on business analytics, data science, R, Python, Power BI and more and continues to grow every day. We are looking for a dynamic and self driven individual with excellent communication skills and a background in business analytics, and strong logic and problem solving. This position's responsibility is centered on loss forecasting for our indirect automotive portfolio and using analytics capabilities to understand key Business Metrics. The ideal candidate would be detail oriented, with ability to sift through voluminous amounts of information to pinpoint which items are relevant to understanding Business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; BS or BA in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Information Technology or related field.
  • 1+ years' experience in similar or equivalent position required.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data querying and analytical techniques.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and models preferred.
  • Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • SAS and/or SQL knowledge required.
  • Quick learner and has demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects.
  • Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Candidate must have strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present material.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge of consumer financing industry (e.g. auto, card, mortgage etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in automotive or financial services industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex models to forecast key metrics for the Business and will be a key point of contact for the Auto Business's Forecast, stress testing and loss reserving routines.
  • Analyze monthly results, seasonal trends, and variances; identify problems and research potential recommendations for adjustments to Forecast.
  • Apply sound control processes into daily/weekly/monthly processes to effectively identify, assess, and manage risk.
  • Maintain code logic to query for data, sanitize, aggregate, conform, and produce forecasts for various metrices accurately.
  • Perform portfolio analytics, special projects, drill --down analysis and other duties as needed.
  • Present Forecast and Business Plan to leadership in forecast review calls
  • Collaboratively work with other team members to ensure alignment on Business Forecast and expectations.
  • Interface with various stakeholders within credit risk, finance and Strategy teams to incorporate inputs and insights into forecast.
  • Apply knowledge of business and balanced judgment in interpretation of data (analytics).
