Requirements

  • 2+ years of industrial refrigeration experience (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂); trade school or equivalent training preferred.
  • 3+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a warehouse, processing, or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical instrumentation, P&IDs, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; able to convey technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, CMMS).
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature environments (−20°F to 100°F) and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • RETA, GCAP, or IIAR certifications such as CARO, CIRO, or Operator I/II are highly valued — or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and building systems to ensure optimal uptime and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ammonia compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and controls in compliance with all PSM/RMP and IIAR standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, performance testing, and calibration of refrigeration and electrical components to maintain system integrity and efficiency.
  • Document all maintenance activities and parts usage in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support and monitor contractors working on or near refrigeration systems, ensuring full adherence to company and regulatory safety protocols.
  • Communicate system status, findings, and maintenance recommendations clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
