About The Position

College Possible Texas seeks 18 AmeriCorps Summer Bridge Coaches who are current collegians or team members to assist the organization with improving program design from a youth-driven perspective. From May 26, 2026 - July 24, 2026 members will each serve more than 300 hours to help expand college access for low-income and first-generation students, while gaining professional skills and earning a $1,459.26, Education Award upon successful completion of term requirements. Summer Bridge Coaches will help more than 650 entering college freshmen select and register for classes, secure financial aid, and finalize freshman orientation and campus housing. Together, these individuals will work closely and plan strategically to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner. Summer Bridge Coaches will be expected to build and maintain congenial professional relationships internally and externally and will represent College Possible Texas to the public. Successful applicants will possess a sincere interest in helping empower other youth to pursue higher education. AmeriCorps Benefits: a bi-weekly living stipend of $900 (pre-tax) an Eli Segal Education Award ($1,565.08) the opportunity to forbear qualified student loans during service NOTE: Mandatory pre-service orientation will take place during the first week of service. Members are also required to meet for staff meetings on a monthly basis. This position will have recurring access to vulnerable populations. In addition, all AmeriCorps members are required to be easily identifiable as AmeriCorps Members. Members must wear the AmeriCorps logo, visibly, daily. In the event of a local, state, or federal disaster declaration, AmeriCorps members may be asked on a volunteer basis or be required by OneStar to activate to assist in disaster response and recovery activities within their communities. This may involve virtual service opportunities or in-person service opportunities. This may include service opportunities outside of the member's standard service hours or in place of their standard service duties. In the event of a large-scale, high needs local, state, or federal disaster, AmeriCorps members may voluntarily or be required by OneStar to deploy to an area outside of their service area to assist in disaster response and recovery activities.

Requirements

A high school diploma; successful past participation in the College Possible Texas program; a track record of actively pursuing a baccalaureate degree from an accredited, academically-recognized four-year college or university; two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication skills; English/Spanish fluency strongly preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational and business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the general public, clients, students, partners, and managers.
Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access.
Ability to work with standard, high school-level mathematical concepts such as probability, arithmetic, geometry, algebra, and trigonometry for purposes of monitoring program statistics.
Ability to apply such concepts as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
All AmeriCorps members must also pass a comprehensive criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Research program-specific needs and conduct outreach to other College Possible Texas students.
Provide students direct college transition mentoring and support in areas including, but not limited to: freshman orientation, course registration, and financial aid/FAFSA issues.
Conduct research, provide referrals, arrange meetings, and accompany students to appointments as necessary
Assist College Possible Texas staff and leadership team with program design improvement.
Represent the organization to school personnel, professional organizations, educators, funders, and the public.
Ensure program compliance with administrative policies and procedures, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Organize and maintain up-to-date files; coordinate and maintain database and spreadsheet files, producing frequent reports.
Coordinate with the supervisor to order, maintain, and inventory program supplies and files.
Think and plan strategically to support organizational stability and success.
Respect and maintain organizational mission, ethos, and core values.
Coordinate volunteers and/or students as necessary at organizational and/or service events.
