About The Position

The AICSN Teaching Fellows Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of a BA-Completion Program at Holy Cross College that leads to a degree in Elementary Education. This is a collaborative project between the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College. Responsibilities include oversight of recruitment, application process, participant onboarding, course delivery, advising, and academic support for participants. Additional responsibilities relating to AICSN Fellows initiatives include the annual retreat, AICSN student participation in Saints and Scholars, and involvement in AICSN programming.

  • Master’s degree in education required
  • K-12 Teaching Experience required
  • Ability to collaborate and clearly communicate between multiple stakeholders required
  • Ability to organize and facilitate onsite events in the summer required

Responsibilities

  • Teach one AICSN online course each fall and spring semester.
  • Participate in regular meetings with AICSN Director (monthly) and IEI Initiatives administrators (annually) to assess program efficacy and needs, set program goals, coordinate programming, plan for recruitment, and review any program action items.
  • Participate in virtual information meetings with principals and candidates to share information about the AICSN Program. Additional meetings take place to interview prospective candidates and walk candidates through the application process— submission of application, transcripts from both high school and institutions higher ed., completion of FAFSA.
  • Participate in monthly virtual meetings with candidates and AICSN staff (usually one hour) to foster/maintain program community coherence. Prayer, social/emotional wellness check-in, personal/school updates, etc. Additional meetings take place, as needed, for candidates who are facing personal challenges.
  • Enroll students in courses and prepare academic plans for individual AICSN Fellows. Coordinate individual student academic plans based on transfer credits (work with Registrar to evaluate incoming course credits and core course requirement needs). Assist AICSN Fellows in planning for completion of additional core courses outside of HCC (work with Registrar to ensure courses will be transferrable). Communicate information pertaining to course materials and programming information to Fellows.
  • Communicate regularly with online instructors to support student success. Individual virtual meetings are scheduled to address academic concerns during the fall/spring semesters. Support Plans are implemented, as needed, and regular check-ins are conducted to monitor student success. Student achievement in program is shared with the AICSN Director regarding failure of candidates to meet program expectations, student academic probation and/or program expulsion.
  • Work with Registrar and HCC personnel to ensure eligible candidates receive information pertaining to all graduation events. Support eligible candidates in navigating Commencement Programming including participation in the Baccalaureate Mass, Commencement Ceremony, and any other related events. Work with AICSN Director to plan an offsite dinner for Friday of the Commencement Weekend and an on-campus reception in the Education Room after the Commencement Ceremony.
  • Recruit for adjunct teaching position openings that arise for online courses offered for AICSN students during the fall and spring semesters and summer term. Work with the Program Chair and human resources to coordinate the hiring process. Onboard new adjunct instructors before each semester for the unique needs of the AICSN Fellows. Ensure adjuncts have received proper instruction on assessment requirements.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of the AICSN Summer Program including the following tasks: work with AICSN Director to determine dates of programming, housing needs, meal plans, technology support including devices, coordination of items provided to participants (snacks, coffee maker, etc.), excursions and fieldtrips, opening and closing dinners. Support summer instructors in regard to their instructional needs. Reserve transportation for summer program needs. As available, join the Fellows group for lunch/dinner meals, Mass, and excursions. Assist Fellows in resolving issues while on campus (additional linens, keys that don’t work, AC problems, etc.).
  • Work with AICSN partners at Notre Dame to support pastoral and professional development initiatives such as the Spring Retreat. Travel involved for Spring Retreat.
  • Work with Admissions and Campus Ministry to develop additional opportunities for collaboration with AICSN Schools: participation of students in AICSN high schools in Saints and Scholars Program, HCC student service trips to AICSN Schools, guest lecturer opportunities, etc.
  • Meet as needed with HCC EDUC Program director and faculty regarding program updates and student needs. Attend program events as appropriate.
  • Support continuous program improvement through the appropriate use of assessment and data.
