As an AHA Program Instructor, you will coordinate the classroom aspects of the American Heart Association courses and ensure that all courses are being held according to standards and guidelines. This position is vital to supporting the day-to-day operations of the Resuscitation Simulation Department. This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role works 7:30am to 4:30pm.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent licensure education
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) or Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Four years of experience as a Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Strong delegation, planning, organizational and teaching skills
  • Ability to gain cooperation, manage conflict and demonstrate empathy
  • Takes initiative and is self-directed and result oriented

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience as an American Heart Association instructor in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Life Support (PALS) OR the American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Reserve and organize classrooms and equipment to conduct scheduled classes.
  • Ensure instructors, equipment, classroom instruction and student ratios meet the standards set by the American Heart Association and Cleveland Clinic.
  • Apply adult learning techniques.
  • Adapt and develop training materials.
  • Prepare and adapt lesson plans based on American Heart Association curriculum and principles using competency-based education.
  • Instruct and impart information in an interactive participative manner eliciting frequent responses.
  • Select and use audiovisual hardware and software to reinforce learning.
  • Evaluate and document classroom and laboratory reaction and learning of trainees utilizing the program and state approved formats.
