About The Position

As an AME Equipment Engineer - Controls, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying comprehensive control system architectures, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems. You will program and integrate complex automation technologies across various systems such as robotic welding, high-speed conveyance, and advanced machine vision applications. Additionally, you will ensure the design of robust electrical control systems adhering to industrial safety standards, and define methods for data integration with MES for production tracking.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of experience as a Controls or Automation Engineer with a focus on high-volume manufacturing automation.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming, troubleshooting, and configuring PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff).
  • Experience with programming and integrating industrial robotics (FANUC, KUKA, ABB) and machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols and integration with plant MES systems.
  • Deep knowledge of controls-reliable safety systems design, safety PLCs, and risk assessment procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
  • Strong analytical, structured problem-solving skills (e.g., 8D, 5 Why), and project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy control system architectures including PLC, HMI, and SCADA for AME equipment.
  • Program and integrate complex automation technologies, focusing on systems like robotic welding, AGVs, and machine vision.
  • Design robust electrical control systems and develop wiring diagrams ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Implement data acquisition and transfer methods between control systems and MES for OEE and quality metrics tracking.
  • Lead controls-related aspects of equipment projects from concept to final site acceptance testing and production ramp-up.
  • Provide expert-level technical support for diagnosing and resolving electrical, software, and networking issues.
  • Define and maintain structured methodologies for PLC code standards, version control, and documentation.
