About The Position

We are looking to immediately fill the role of an Ambulatory Technician. Ambulatory Technicians assist veterinarians during farm visits in a number of ways including but not limited to: handling horses, setting up veterinary equipment, managing truck inventory, preparing patients for procedures and billing. This position is well suited for someone with a background working in large equine barn settings, experience assisting veterinarians, or a licensed veterinary technician. We are happy to provide training for the right person; someone who has exceptional horsemanship and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with veterinarians, learning something new every day, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. We ask that you are dependable, responsible, and willing to work hard. The schedule for this position is 5 days a week, for approximately 40-45 hours a week. Flexibility is necessary in order to accommodate staffing needs. The position is full time and based year-round in Oldwick, NJ. Requirements

  • Excellent horse-handling skills are mandatory, including handling of sedated horses, ability to jog horses in hand, and proficiency in lunging horses
  • An outstanding team attitude, work ethic, and desire to learn
  • Education & work background in equine medicine & care
  • Good time management and multitasking skills
  • Technologically proficient
  • Excellent handling emergency situations
  • Capable of heavy lifting, including hay bales, feed bags, and muck buckets

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarian with ambulatory and hospital caseload, including, but not limited to, joint injections, lameness exams, pre-purchase examinations, and imaging. This would include handling, lunging, and jogging horses, prepping joints, preparing & using diagnostic imaging equipment, etc.
  • Stock and manage ambulatory inventory & equipment
  • Manage daily schedule and appointments, including scheduling follow-ups and phone calls
  • Operate ImproMed Equine software to track and maintain up-to-date client history, reports, appointments, and invoices
  • Run in-house labs or prepare samples to go out
  • Communicate effectively with clients
  • Additional responsibilities as needed
