As a Pharmacy Technician in the Ambulatory Pharmacy, a caregiver in this role will work in a first floor medical building pharmacy that provides prescription filling, bedside delivery, non sterile compounding, and vaccination support. Daily responsibilities include preparing and filling prescriptions, supporting inventory and stocking, answering phones, assisting customers at checkout, and helping maintain smooth pharmacy operations. Caregivers are drawn to and remain in this role because of the collaborative team environment, where ideas are welcomed, teamwork is celebrated, and individuals have the opportunity to help drive positive change. A caregiver in this role will work day shifts with varying start times. Rotations include every third weekend (Saturdays only).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
