About The Position

Rome Health is seeking a full-time Ambulatory Medical Assistant. This role involves performing administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of an authorized health care provider (e.g., physician, nurse) in an acute care hospital setting. The Ambulatory Surgery Medical Assistant primarily serves as a patient advocate and care coordinator, ensuring a seamless perioperative experience for both patient and family. This includes organizing surgical charts, scheduling necessary testing, reviewing the surgical chart for completeness, accessing outside records through the regional health information organization (RHIOS), and settling the patient for surgery, including vital signs and surgical site preparation. The position also serves as a point of contact for physicians, patients, caregivers, and medical institutions to provide resources and assistance in accessing perioperative services and to help overcome barriers within the healthcare system. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to, phlebotomy draws, EKG exams, and microbiology swab collection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior Experience in working in a hospital or medical office.
