The outpatient dietitian in the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) clinic provides specialized medical nutrition therapy to pediatric and/or adult patients with CF. This role involves comprehensive nutrition assessment, ongoing monitoring, and individualized intervention to support optimal growth, pulmonary function, and overall health outcomes. The dietitian collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists, to deliver evidence-based care aligned with CF Foundation guidelines. Responsibilities include patient education, management of enteral nutrition, pancreatic enzyme therapy guidance, and addressing nutrition-related complications such as malabsorption and CFRD (cystic fibrosis-related diabetes). This position requires strong clinical judgment, patient-centered communication, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload in an outpatient setting.
