Hours: 40-Hours, Days, 8:15AM-4:45PM Job Summary: Under the direction of management, a provider (Physician or APP), and/or the Lead Cardiology Nurse, the incumbent is primarily responsible for delivering high-quality clinical triage and care coordination within the cardiology practice. Primary responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, prioritizing clinical needs, addressing symptom-based concerns, tracking and updating medical records, managing clinical follow-ups, and performing anticoagulation management, including PT/INR review and dosing according to established protocols. In addition to triage as the primary function, the nurse provides direct clinical support across the cardiology practice, assisting with patient care activities, clerical tasks related to clinical operations, and cross-coverage needs as required. The incumbent also serves as a backup to the Lead Cardiology Nurse, supporting responsibilities such as cardiac device monitoring and broader clinical workflow needs when the lead nurse is unavailable or when patient volume requires additional support. The nurse will further assist as a backup resource for pharmaceutical cardiac stress testing when primary cardiac staff are unavailable. This role requires a flexible and highly organized nurse who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative cardiology care team. Requirements

Current Massachusetts RN license required.
Current AHA BLS certification required
AHA ACLS certification required or must be obtained within six months of start date.
Cardiac Device certification required or must be obtained within six months of start date.
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in a medical office or ambulatory setting preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional customer service skills, the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and the ability to work independently.
Comfortable using computers/technology with the ability to learn new systems; experience with Electronic Medical Records and device platforms preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Reliable transportation and ability to float between locations as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in PT/INR dosing/maintenance strongly preferred.
Experience in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stress testing protocols, and cardiology-specific workflows preferred.
Prior experience with remote cardiac device monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPPA regulations.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives and safety programs.
Clinical duties include: patient care, telephone triage, patient education, obtaining and recording patient health information including vitals and injections.
Communicate normal and abnormal lab results with patients and communicate clinical plan and significance.
Manage and complete tasks in clinical inboxes and practice communication buckets.
Process incoming/outgoing medical records and assist with clerical duties (calls, scheduling, etc.)
Completes tasks associated with clinical inbox/ practice buckets (personal, practice referral, medical record and others assigned) proficiently and in a timely manner.
Queues orders and prescriptions as directed and according to practice procedure.
Competently manages provider controlled substance registry program as directed and according to practice procedure.
Prepare forms and educational materials as directed by Provider to be communicated to and/or mailed to patients.
Provide mentoring to other clinical staff (such as Medical Assistants).
Rooming patients and begin basic documentation for medical provider: Performs Phlebotomy services and administers vaccines.
Performs basic office laboratory procedures such as PT/INRs Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examination.
Takes and records vital signs and EKG’s.
Documents intake assessment.
Assists physician and others in clinical procedures as required or directed Obtains necessary prior- authorizations for ordered medications, procedures and diagnostic studies as required or directed.
Maintains records, reports, logs and other statistical information as required or directed.
Instruments and equipment are prepared and sterilized according to procedure to support infection control.
Processes Medical Records incoming and outgoing according to practice guidelines and regulations.
Maintains assigned office and/or clinical supplies.
Assures accurate inventory of supplies based on approved levels.
Rotates stock as required.
Initiates requisitions for re-supply or special items.
Performs a variety of clerical functions to support office such as answering telephone, scheduling in office appointments, taking messages accurately and routing appropriately, ,and related duties as required or directed.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Attends variety of meetings, conferences, training and seminars as required or directed.
Demonstrates use of quality improvement in daily operations Respects diverse views and approaches, and contributes in maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
Provide coverage when needed at other locations within Heywood Medical Group.
Educate patients on chronic conditions, medications, and equipment (e.g., Home INR testing, Repatha/Praluent injections, etc ).
Cardiac Stress Test Support (Back-Up): Serve as backup nurse for cardiac pharmaceutical stress testing as needed.
Prepare patients and explain the procedure, risks, and post-test care.
Insert and manage IVs; administer pharmacologic stress test agents (e.g., Lexiscan, Dobutamine).
Monitor EKG, telemetry, and vital signs throughout the procedure.
Respond to adverse reactions using ACLS protocols and terminate tests when necessary.
Document patient response and outcomes accurately.
Follow all facility cardiac protocols, working closely with nuclear medicine, and provider teams.
Cardiac Device Management (Back-Up): Perform thorough, competent interrogations and reprogramming of implanted cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable loop recorders, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).
Conduct device evaluations in the ambulatory care setting and oversee remote monitoring of enrolled patients.
Complete initial interrogations, generate reports, submit charges, and document findings in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and device management systems.
Identify and escalate acute or urgent device-related concerns to appropriate providers promptly.
Maintain current knowledge of device technologies, software systems, and industry standards.
Assist/Guide the Lead MA/Device Technician in any of the above activities as needed.
