About The Position

The Ambassador Program Manager at Downtown Phoenix Inc. (DPI) is responsible for overseeing the Ambassador team, ensuring exceptional service and community engagement in the Enhanced Municipal Services District. This role involves managing team performance, providing training, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders while embodying the spirit of Downtown Phoenix. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the organization's needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, some college or advanced learning preferred.
  • More than 4 years of customer service and/or hospitality experience.
  • Proven experience managing teams and projects.
  • Outgoing, friendly personality with a desire to help people.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, comfortable speaking in front of groups.
  • Comfortable using various Microsoft programs, the internet, and cellular phone applications.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations and make sound decisions.
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, and capable of executing actions that meet the company's vision and mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community engagement or public relations.
  • Knowledge of Downtown Phoenix and its amenities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance of the Ambassador team and provide daily deployment based on field needs.
  • Lead by example and perform the same tasks expected of Ambassadors.
  • Share knowledge of downtown history, public art, museums, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
  • Maintain attendance records, provide employee reviews, and conduct training and performance coaching.
  • Respond to stakeholder issues and concerns with exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee the work of Training Coordinator and Ambassadors, including Team Leads.
  • Represent Downtown Phoenix Inc. at meetings and special events as requested.
  • Track assists, monitor stats, and provide reports on the team's efforts.
  • Assist with the hiring, onboarding, and training of new Ambassadors.
  • Identify HR issues and address them in real time, reporting to the Controller as necessary.
  • Identify areas in the program needing reform and implement changes.
