As the evening shift settles in, you’ll bring the melt deck to life—warming up furnaces, checking temperatures, and preparing aluminum ingots and scrap to keep die-cast machines running without interruption. You’ll regulate furnace temperatures, charge the furnace with the correct proportions of ingot and scrap, and coordinate a timed schedule to deliver molten metal to each cell while maintaining central melt temperature. When a furnace needs to cool, you’ll assist with the cooldown, inspect linings for cracks or wear, examine distribution ladles, and support repairs as directed. Between heats, you’ll handle materials, drive a lift truck safely, and—when needed—set up the die-casting cell (ladle, auto-spray, robotic equipment, and trim press), including changing dies and making machine adjustments. Throughout the shift, you take ownership of safety for yourself and others while filling ladles, transporting molten metal, and pouring at the machine for set-up.
