About The Position

Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, provides instruction, participates in student management, and functions as a member of the Allied Health Sciences faculty. Those who are doctorally prepared are eligible for tenure-track. Job performance will be periodically evaluated by the Allied Health Sciences Coordinator and the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions in accordance with the provisions of the University’s policies on evaluations of faculty. Description of Job Duties: Develop a learning environment that offers opportunities for active participation in the learning process by providing traditional and online instruction in Allied Health Sciences. Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum, using effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning. Maintain expertise in field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops, and classes for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement. Maintain active participation in professional organizations and/or service organizations as appropriate. Participate in recruitment, advisement, and enrollment management for health science students. Support student activities, including course and career guidance and mentoring students. Keep active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulate enthusiasm for those subjects. Study and use students’ learning styles in each class in order to facilitate the best teaching and learning environment. Serve on department and campus committees. Provide syllabi and office hours to department coordinator at the beginning of every academic year. Participate and march during graduation ceremonies. Participate in sponsorship of student organization. Other tasks as assigned by the Allied Health Sciences Department Chair and/or Dean. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in discipline per HLC guidelines
  • Background indicating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of scholarly abilities regarding written and presentation skills.
  • Evidence of curriculum development experience and exposure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set and achieve goals and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computers and related technology (MS Office, online learning management systems).
  • Ability to manage and organize a wide variety of responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to communicate both orally, in writing, and with auditory and visual skills.

Nice To Haves

  • doctorate preferred.
  • University teaching experience preferred.
