The Allergy Technician assists physicians and other medical personnel in providing allergy testing, immunotherapy treatments, and patient education. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent clinical skills, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) (preferred)
- Experience in ENT or allergy/immunology setting (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of allergy testing procedures and extract mixing (a plus)
- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for allergy testing procedures (skin prick and intradermal)
- Administer allergy tests and document reactions accurately
- Prepare and administer allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots)
- Mix allergen extracts in a sterile and accurate manner
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication usage, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR system
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately
- Clean and sterilize equipment and exam rooms
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic protocols
- Call insurance to get eligibility and benefits
- Submit authorizations
- Provides allergy ded/oop information to the patient
