About The Position

Partners Behavioral Healthcare is seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor to assist individuals in our outpatient program in Waite Park. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ ADC-T) plays a key role in the delivery of treatment services to the clients and is responsible for ensuring that all clients receive services as mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). They provide services to support the achievement of effective personal development working with clients individually and in group settings to identify and resolve issues including substance use, mental health, personal and/or emotional and family issues.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or ADC-T in the state of Minnesota.
  • Must reside in Minnesota with the ability to work onsite in Waite Park.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with alcohol and/or drug addicted individuals and/or substance abuse counseling.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience providing Outpatient Treatment and/or Intensive Outpatient services.
  • Must have 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems or obtain training within 6 months of hire.
  • 5 years of compliance with MN Statutes 604.20, 604.205 sexual exploitation.
  • Successfully complete MN Department of Human Services background study.
  • Independent worker and self-starter.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, respectfully and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Prepared screening for and working with clients with criminal justice involvement and mental health problems, through education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of implications of 245G.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations for health care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all company processes as it pertains to the 12 Core Functions.
  • Competence in facilitating individual and group counseling including crisis intervention and educational lectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Licenses: LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Treatment Director and Program Manager, deliver services meeting licensure requirements and individual client needs.
  • Upon service initiation, ensure that each client has an initial service plan which addresses the client’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment and an assessment summary of the client's substance use problems utilizing the ASAM Six Dimensions prior to service initiation.
  • Generate an Individual Treatment Plan after the comprehensive assessment, which is subject to amendment until client services are terminated. The Individual Treatment Plan must include treatment goals, objectives and interventions used to address identified problems, resources to which the client is being referred, and client goals.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of client treatment notes, referencing the individual treatment plan for assigned caseload, to include assessment of substance use and mental health issues.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, client education and behavioral modification strategies to prevent inappropriate substance use, continued criminal behaviors, and/or health problems.
  • Facilitate and lead psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, addressing substance use disorders, criminogenic behaviors, and mental health issues as an integral part of the recovery process.
  • Conduct an average of 28 hours of direct client services on a weekly basis, which includes a combination of group and individual sessions.
  • Participate in the weekly treatment team meetings to review and update client progress notes.
  • Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referral sources, probation, and social service agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
