About The Position

We are seeking a motivated engineer looking to grow in the field of alarm management and operational performance. The Alarm Management Engineer will support the development, deployment, and optimization of alarm systems using AgileOps™ software suite or other alarm management tools. This role involves hands-on configuration, rationalization, and lifecycle management of alarms to improve operator situational awareness, reduce alarm floods, and enhance safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of DeltaV or other control systems and a strong interest in applying industry standards such as ISA-18.2 and IEC 62682 to real-world alarm management solutions.

  • B.S. in CHE, EE, ME, Comp. Eng, Comp. Sci., other related disciplines or equivalent experience
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience with DeltaV or other Control Systems
  • MS Office Experience

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain alarm management solutions using Emerson’s AgileOps™ software to support safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Conduct alarm rationalization workshops and document alarm attributes in a master alarm database.
  • Implement rationalization changes in DeltaV or other control system.
  • Configure dynamic alarming strategies to adjust alarm behavior based on plant operating states, minimizing nuisance alarms and alarm floods.
  • Utilize Alarm Shelving to manage stale or malfunctioning alarms and ensure compliance with alarm philosophy and industry standards.
  • Monitor alarm system performance and generate KPI reports to assess alarm rates, flood conditions, and operator response effectiveness.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) by auditing alarm configurations and validating alarm behavior against design specifications.
  • Travel in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia – approximately 25%
  • Provide training and support to operators and engineers on alarm management fundamentals, software tools, and best practices.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure alarm modifications are properly reviewed, documented, and approved.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of site-specific alarm philosophies and contribute to periodic audits and assessments of alarm system integrity.
