About The Position

VIAS Infrastructure is seeking an Airport Construction Inspector to support aviation infrastructure projects at commercial and general aviation airports. This role is responsible for monitoring construction activities, documenting field work, and ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and FAA standards. The Airport Construction Inspector will work closely with contractors, airport staff, and project engineers to support safe, high-quality construction of airfield infrastructure including runways, taxiways, aprons, and related facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction-related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of construction inspection experience on civil infrastructure projects (airport or transportation projects preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and/or Air Operations Area (AOA) access.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars related to airport construction preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials testing procedures for concrete, asphalt, and soils is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily construction inspection for airport infrastructure projects, including inspections during off-hours, night, and weekend operations as required to support construction activities.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, FAA requirements, and safety standards.
  • Prepare daily reports, field notes, and photo documentation of construction progress.
  • Verify quantities and assist with documentation for contractor pay applications.
  • Observe materials placement and coordinate testing activities.
  • Participate in construction meetings with airport staff, contractors, and project engineers.
  • Communicate field issues, potential conflicts, and schedule impacts to the project team.
  • Verify implementation of erosion control, safety practices, and quality control procedures.
  • Assist with project closeout activities including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation.
