About The Position

The individual in this position is responsible for facilities management and over-site for all structures on properties of the Airport other than the Central Passenger Terminal Complex. This includes tenant occupied buildings and Department of Aviation structures & properties. This includes not only buildings but all bridges, roadways and other support structures. Duties include, but are not limited to: ensuring that assigned projects are properly planned, designed, and implemented in compliance with approved scope, schedule, and budget; ensuring that all airport facilities operate within federal, state, and local regulations and comply with standards relating to building codes, safety codes, and environmental regulations. This is a highly experienced professional who routinely exercises project leadership over complex projects, trains other professionals, or serves as a specialized subject matter expert in one or more specific areas. This level would be expected to have noticeably greater leadership or technical responsibilities than the Senior level. This is NOT a routine promotional level and the specific justification for classification at this level must be documented

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical or electrical is very beneficial (and/or an equivalent discipline).
  • 5 years' of specific professional experience.
  • Must have some project management or leadership experience; general business administration knowledge and experience and supervisory and/or managerial experience is required.

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical or electrical and 8-10 years' of specific experience with extensive project management or leadership experience; direct knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing operations is desired; working knowledge of financial management

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, coordinates and liaises as designated lead on all projects dealing with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) including checkpoint construction/renovation and new equipment installation; during planning, design and construction phases; representing the Aviation Facility Management Division; and their primary concerns regarding plan reviews to ensure compliance with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA) standards and Department of Aviation (DOA) Planning & Development (P&D) Department procedures.
  • Directs senior staff on critical job functions and directions and/or approvals for meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Plans, executes, produces reports and recommendations, then follows up annual facility assessments for all DOA occupied buildings and all tenant occupied buildings in support of the total asset management program. After senior staff reviews, the assessments are provided to the building occupants for remedial actions as necessary. Quarterly follow-up is then preformed with the building occupant. This is also coordinated with the DOA Properties Division.
  • Manages and inspects all City of Atlanta Department of Aviation property assigned for construction or storage lay-down area. Reviews all request for space and access to the property by airline, contractor or other city department. Conducts visual inspections on a regular basis to ensure compliance to agreements and maintains security and proper usage of the spaces.
  • On a daily basis, monitors the activities of DOA and tenant activities and facilitates routine maintenance on the buildings and structures not associated directly with the Central Passenger Terminal Complex. This includes any tenant building modifications underway, utility services operations, structural integrity, aircraft fuel delivery systems and overall aesthetic presentation of the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport to the public served.
  • Develops projects for implementation by Department of Aviation engineering or maintenance organizations as required for dealing with facility needs of tenants and/or stakeholders to ensure facilities remain in functional status.
