About The Position

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The team will augment services provided by Air Force military personnel to modify, maintain, inspect, control corrosion, overhaul, repair, regenerate and store various weapon systems, related components, missiles, engines, ground support equipment and vehicles. DUTIES: Tow aircraft and perform all towing duties for various types of aircraft ranging from large bombers and cargo transport to small fighters and single engine aircraft. Perform the full range of towing duties to include serving as tow supervisor, brake rider, wing/tail walker, and chock walker. Operate specialized towing vehicles on prepared and unprepared surfaces including the MB-2, MB-4, U-30, and Bobtail. Service aircraft, tires, struts, and accumulators, use powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment (AGE), remove and install aircraft panels, wheel and tire assemblies, and aircraft protective devices. Open and close aircraft doors, canopies and hatches, and remove "spraylat" preservative. Survey and layout aircraft parking locations, operate uniloader, install tiedown devices, wash aircraft and associated parts, and prepare them for paint, and use the small parts blasting booth to clean aircraft parts. Wash, strip, treat, remove preservation coating, and prepare surfaces of aerospace vehicles to prevent corrosion. Clean, degrease, and remove oily deposits, hydraulic and fuel residue, soil barriers accumulated, and soils from interiors and exteriors of aerospace vehicles components. Cover openings to protect areas which do not require cleaning or require a different cleaning compound/process. Lubricate and preserve aerospace vehicles after wash. Remove/open and reinstall/close aircraft panels/doors, as required, to perform lubrication. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least 4 years of applicable experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver's license.
  • Must be capable of working in a potentially hostile environment for an extended period.
  • May be required to travel to and between remote location(s) in austere environments.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
