Requirements

  • Education/Training: Trade apprenticeship or equivalent aircraft mechanic training.
  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft structural maintenance (commercial, defense, or equivalent).
  • 3+ years reading/interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to drill and precision measure to within .003”, and in some tasks, to within .0005”.
  • Proficient with micrometers, calipers, trimics, grip gauges, bore gages, etc.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic digital maintenance tracking systems.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs (or 45 lbs with a partner) per Boeing safety standards.
  • Completion of all required training and certifications as per assignment scope.
  • This is an on-site position; flexibility required to support scheduled aircraft deliveries.
  • Applicants selected for employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation, which may include education, criminal, and work history verifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural repair, modification, and assembly of F/A-18 EF flight control surfaces using engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Accurately identify and install fasteners including rivets, blind rivets, hi-locks, bolts, screws, and lock bolts.
  • Conduct close-tolerance drilling (.001–.003") and precision measurement using tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and depth gauges.
  • Apply metallic and composite fabrication techniques: locate, trim, shim, drill/ream, debur, assemble, and install structural components.
  • Use Assembly Jigs (AJ), Repair Equipment (RE), and other tooling to meet blueprint requirements.
  • Perform surface prep and finishing including application of sealants, Alodine, primers, and paint.
  • Read, interpret, and execute work from Airworthiness Directives, Technical Directives, and Service Bulletins.
  • Remove/install aircraft fairings, access panels, and damaged screws without structural compromise.
  • Apply corrosion prevention, cleaning, and polishing methods per maintenance specifications.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, work packages, logbooks, and zonal handovers in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct detailed tool inventories and maintain clean work areas per company standards (“Clean as You Go”).
