To learn more about Mission Technologies, click here for a short video: https://vimeo.com/732533072Job DescriptionAircraft Environmental Safety and Occupational (ESOH) Engineer HII is hiring an Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) engineer to support the US Air Force T-7A training aircraft development program. This is an onsite part-time position (averaging 20 hours weekly). The T-7 is the Advanced Pilot Trainer (APT) currently in development for the US Air Force. HII is hiring an ESOH engineer to review technical documentation and contractor deliverables to evaluate design, production, and fielding risks and mitigation. You will provide recommended engineering changes, assess and communicate risks to leadership, and assist with the acquisition of the related systems.

Requirements

  • United States Citizen
  • Bachelors in Engineering or similar field of study
  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
  • Secret preferred or the ability to obtain federal clearance

  • Masters in Engineering or similar field of study
  • 5+ years’ experience with USAF ESOH policies, procedures and criteria, and standards and methods of compliance

Responsibilities

  • Implement MIL‑STD‑882E System Safety processes to identify hazards, evaluate associated risks, and develop mitigation strategies throughout the full lifecycle of defense systems.
  • Apply DoDI 5000.02 acquisition policies and lifecycle management practices to ensure compliance, effective program execution, and alignment with DoD requirements across all phases of system development.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order (EO) 12114 requirements by supporting environmental reviews, impact analyses, and required documentation, while managing and maintaining the NEPA compliance schedule.
  • Support all ESOH aspects of the design, production, fielding, and servicing of the system.
  • Ensure delivered products comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
  • Establish and coordinate development of ESOH practices, and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of required ESOH documents.
  • Assess performance, hazards, and risk using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
  • Participate in systems engineering technical management processes to ensure ESOH requirements and data are communicated and integrated effectively.
  • Review ESOH related plans/procedures, and data deliverables and ensure they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate, identify, and interpret success criteria and results and recommend corrective action for any shortcomings.
  • Effectively interact with others in person and using telework methods.
  • Effectively communicate status, issues, risks, results, and recommendations through written and verbal communications.
