About The Position

We are currently searching for an Aircraft Electrical Technician to join our Aircraft Certification Center (ACC) team located at the Eastern Iowa airport in Cedar Rapids. This individual will apply principles and theories of electrical engineering to design, build, modify, and repair electrical test installation, aircraft and aircraft applications for Collins Aerospace products in support of the ACC Engineering Installation and Design group. This is an onsite position based at the Eastern Iowa Airport located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person is required - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
  • Basic electrical knowledge including crimping, soldering, wire terminating, and interpreting wiring diagrams is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with design and materials quoting for projects
  • Aircraft wiring experience
  • Familiarity designing and wiring test equipment and test setups
  • Aircraft repairman’s certificate
  • Familiarity working around aircraft or building aircraft parts
  • Fiber optic experience

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret wiring drawings and technical schematics for cable and harness builds.
  • Route electrical wire in testing and aircraft applications.
  • Set up and operation of standard equipment, and under minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshooting wire harness and avionics applications and installations.
  • Perform as member of team including utilizing effective communication skills and interacts with leadership and customers.
  • Expert understanding of written/verbal instruction methods used by customers.
  • Performs independently on routine technician assignments and general instruction is provided for new/special assignments.
  • May participate in various phases of engineering design effort.
