About The Position

This Air Quality Technician (AQT) Journeyman is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of campus HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including related preventive maintenance. The role supports the department's mission to ensure buildings and equipment function as assets for the university and individual career goals. The incumbent is also responsible for meeting work schedules and service requests by providing effective and efficient maintenance workmanship and leadership.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED
• Must have a Department of Labor or equivalent journeyman AQT certificate or associate degree or technical school certificate and four (4) or more years related experience
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under UToledo driving policies
• Must have knowledge and skill in leadership, HVAC & refrigeration technology, blueprint reading, electrical wiring schematics, regulations, codes, mathematics, HVAC and refrigeration repairs and installation, hand and power tool operation
• Ability to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to solve technical problems
• Ability to read technical documents
• Ability to work with dexterity
• Understanding of building layout, terminology, and university policy and procedures (to be obtained post hire)
• Verbal skills to communicate with staff, patients, family members, and management
• Verbal skills to communicate with other trades and work control
