About The Position

The Source Testing and Verification Section has a vacancy for an Air Pollution Specialist (APS) who will certify abrasives materials; conduct tests at gasoline terminals, gas stations, and various stationary sources; evaluate and certify independent contractors that test stationary sources in CA; assist in the testing of hydrogen fueling stations; and evaluate existing stationary source test methods and develop new test methods to support the California Air Resources Boar (CARB's) control measure development. This position provides a mixture of office, shop, and field work. Applicants must be willing to travel and be physically able to work in an industrial environment including exposure to fumes and heat, perform heavy lifting, climb and work at elevated heights, drive a large test truck, and handle heavy equipment and gas cylinders. Applicants must be willing to travel more than 25 percent of the time. The successful candidate will be expected to work overtime, travel overnight, and alter their work schedule as necessary to accommodate the testing schedule. In addition, this position will require the employee to pass a pre-placement physical examination as a condition of employment.
