About The Position

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services. The Air Export Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision and support of the Air Export department to ensure the efficient movement of air freight out of the country in accordance with company policies, established procedures, and all applicable local, national, and international regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant Air Export in the freight forwarding space.
  • Minimum 1-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with a team and also independently.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance with export rules and regulations.
  • Able to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a “direct threat” to the health or safety of self or others.
  • Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.
  • Must have strong understanding of US Export Compliance.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services.

Nice To Haves

  • Cargowise (C1) experience is a preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily workflow of the department to maintain efficient and productive operations.
  • Identify operational issues and support effective, timely solutions.
  • Utilize reporting methods to quantify and prioritize workload, including monitoring JAS operational and customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Support communication with export‑related authorities, customers, and suppliers as necessary to maintain efficient, positive, and compliant operations.
  • Audit department files regularly to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain effective export activities and operational support across the organization.
  • Support and help implement changes that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Make sound decisions based on analysis, experience, and established guidelines.
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training, tools, and resources to perform their roles successfully.
  • Assist in maintaining branch TSA compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties or assigned projects as needed.
  • Incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise one or more employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for export department staff.
  • Recommend hiring, terminations and promotions of department employees.
  • Identify and resolve personnel issues.
  • Create an environment that encourages others to develop professionally.
