AI UX Design Intern @ Guidewire Software 3 month Internship | June – November 2026 | San Mateo, CA Shape the Future of AI-Driven UX Are you fascinated by the intersection of AI and user experience? This internship is designed for individuals who think beyond the interface, exploring how AI, our customers, and UX design come together to create seamless digital interactions. You will work alongside experienced UX designers, researchers, and product managers in a real-world business environment—experimenting, testing, and refining AI-powered experiences for the insurance industry. Requirements

  • Passion for AI, UX, and research—you're curious about how AI can enhance human-computer interaction.
  • Experience with AI models, machine learning, or AI prompt engineering (personal projects, coursework, or internships).
  • Basic knowledge of UX research methodologies (usability testing, surveys, interviews, etc.).
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and tools (Figma, prototyping tools, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills—you can translate complex design concepts into human-friendly language.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in AI, human-computer interaction, UX design, computer science, cognitive science, psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user-AI interactions to improve accuracy, personalization, and outcomes in generative AI experiences.
  • Collaborate with PMs, designers, and engineers to integrate agentic capabilities into product workflows.
  • Develop, test, and refine AI prompts to optimize interactions between users and AI-driven features.
  • Explore generative AI and ML based applications to enhance UX workflows, design automation, and improve system responses.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging AI trends in UX, human-AI interaction, and prompt engineering.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to depict AI-driven experiences.
  • Collaborate with designers and PMs to translate user research into intuitive interactions.
  • Use generative AI design tools to drive your ideation.
  • Plan and conduct user research to understand how AI-driven features impact user experience.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative methods such as desk research, usability testing, interviews, surveys, and heuristic evaluations.
  • Analyze research data to inform UX design strategies.
  • Communicate findings through reports, presentations, and experience-focused artifacts.
