AI-First Product Manager

Ambience HealthcareSan Francisco, CA
17h$200,000 - $250,000Hybrid

About The Position

As our AI-First PM , you'll own the transformation of how Ambience operates internally - turning fragmented, manual workflows into structured, AI-powered systems that preserve clarity and accelerate execution as we scale. We serve thousands of clinicians across leading health systems, and the internal operations that support that growth - sales, marketing, hiring, finance, customer success - need to be just as intentional and well-built as the products we ship externally. This person treats every internal function as a product: understanding the job to be done, mapping inputs and outputs, re-engineering processes, and deploying AI capability aimed at making teams faster, more aligned, and less dependent on tribal knowledge. The guiding question is always: "If we had to scale this function purely through software and AI, how would we do it?" This is not a strategy-only role. You must be a builder - comfortable configuring tools, writing prompts, standing up AI-powered workflows, and iterating directly with business teams. You sit at the intersection of process design, AI tooling, and cross-functional influence, and you ship working systems, not slide decks. This role reports directly to the President. You'll work closely with every function across the company. We're a hybrid company headquartered in San Francisco. This role requires being in the SF office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management, operations, or systems-building experience with a strong bias toward shipping working solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience building AI-powered workflows, automations, or internal tooling that delivered measurable impact - not just strategy decks or proofs of concept.
  • Technical fluency in AI tooling (LLMs, prompt engineering, MCP servers, API integrations, workflow orchestration) - you don't need to be an engineer, but you need to be able to build.
  • Strong process re-engineering instinct: you start with the workflow, not the tool, and you know that automating a broken process just produces broken outputs faster.
  • Cross-functional influence without authority - you can get Sales, Finance, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to adopt new systems through trust and demonstrated value.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed - you orient quickly, make decisions with incomplete information, and iterate in public.
  • Based in SF, available to be in the office regularly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare technology - HIPAA, SOC 2, EMR integrations.
  • Background in internal operations, BizOps, or RevOps at a high-growth startup.
  • Familiarity with the modern AI ecosystem - Claude, GPT, MCP protocol, Notion/Slack integrations, and similar tooling.
  • Experience running change management or adoption programs for new internal systems.
  • Prior experience at a company that operated with an "AI-first" or "context amplification" philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Ship internal AI-powered workflows: Design, build, and deploy AI-driven systems that automate high-value internal processes across the company - from meeting prep and pipeline reviews to status reporting and cross-functional updates.
  • Follow a rigorous build cycle: Start with the process, not the tool. Re-engineer how work actually gets done, identify authoritative data sources, build with human-in-the-loop accountability, and iterate based on real usage.
  • Measure and prove value: Every system you ship should demonstrably save time or improve quality vs. the prior manual process. You own the before/after story.
  • Understand how teams actually work: Embed with business functions across the company to identify where people waste time on synthesis, context-chasing, or manual reporting.
  • Build a prioritized opportunity backlog: Turn observations into clear problem statements with estimated impact and readiness for AI automation - directly shaping where you invest next.
  • Make the playbook repeatable: Your discovery process should scale beyond you - building a methodology others can run as the company grows.
  • Define the rules of the road: Establish clear, practical guidelines for how the company uses AI - what's approved, what data goes where, and how to stay secure without slowing people down.
  • Accelerate adoption, not friction: Your governance work should remove ambiguity and make people faster, not slower. This is a living system that evolves as tooling evolves.
  • Ensure teams have access to the right tools and data infrastructure so AI-powered workflows operate on authoritative, real-time data.
  • Solve the "Context Debt" problem: Build systems that ensure the right information flows to the right people at the right time - reducing the knowledge gaps that naturally emerge as the company scales.
  • Design accountability into every system: Every workflow you build has a clear human owner responsible for output quality. You care as much about adoption and trust as you do about the technology.
