About The Position

Markon is seeking an experienced AI Data Management Specialist to support the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer and Chief Data Officer for an Intelligence Community customer. This role will provide practical and strategic expertise across the data lifecycle, data protection, and stakeholder coordination, enabling effective data management in support of AI adoption and governance. This position requires the ability to work with both technical and non-technical senior government stakeholders to align data strategies with mission objectives, privacy requirements, and civil liberties protections.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Associate’s degree plus 10+ years, OR Master’s degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in data management, with practical and strategic experience across the full data lifecycle.
  • Understanding of vectorization in AI and its relationship to data usage and analytics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data protection, including handling data spills, personal information security, and civil liberties considerations.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, including government data managers.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and their implications for data governance and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of zero trust architecture principles.
  • Experience with data architecture design, governance, and implementation.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or other government customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Data Lifecycle Management
  • Provide subject matter expertise across the data lifecycle, including collection, storage, usage, sharing, and archival/disposal.
  • Advise senior government stakeholders on the development and execution of comprehensive data management strategies aligned with mission needs and compliance requirements.
  • Data Protection and Governance
  • Deliver guidance on data protection and governance, addressing risks related to data spills, safeguarding personal information, and protecting civil liberties.
  • Ensure alignment with applicable data protection policies, laws, and standards, and promote best practices for secure data handling.
  • Stakeholder Coordination
  • Serve as a liaison between senior government data managers, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate shared understanding of data management priorities, challenges, and solution paths.
  • AI and Emerging Technologies
  • Apply foundational knowledge of AI concepts to support data strategies that enable AI adoption and operational use.
  • Contribute to planning and discussions involving vectorization, AI-enabled analytics, and data-driven solutions.
  • Strategic Advisory
  • Identify gaps in data infrastructure, strategy, and implementation and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Advise on policies and practices related to zero trust principles, data architecture, and cross-organizational data sharing.
