Our goal is to create a workplace where all employees feel included, empowered, and enabled to perform at their best. P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. IT Services can include a wide range of activities such as: software development, data management, Cloud services, IT security, network security, technical support, establishing and overseeing access rights, procuring and maintaining equipment or software, managing the infrastructure, and defining security procedures, The overall goal of IT Services is to provide technology solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and give our company a competitive advantage over our competitors. Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site a minimum of two days a week, with the potential to work three days remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday and Thursday but will be determined by business needs. The AI/Automation Solution Architect is responsible for designing, building, and delivering intelligent automation solutions that combine AI capabilities (LLMs, document intelligence, RAG) with enterprise automation platforms (UiPath, Power Platform) and cloud-native application patterns to solve real business problems across our specialty P&C business units. This is a hands-on solution delivery role—not a model-building or research position. The Solution Architect takes prioritized use cases from our AI capability catalog, designs the end-to-end solution, and works with development teams to deliver production-ready implementations that integrate with our existing enterprise systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in solution architecture, automation engineering, or a closely related role.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with at least one major RPA platform (UiPath strongly preferred).
  • 1+ years of practical experience integrating LLMs or AI services into business solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering automation or AI solutions to production in an enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance or financial services experience is strongly preferred.
  • UiPath certification (Advanced Developer or Solution Architect).
  • Experience with Nomad Data, Azure AI Document Intelligence, or similar document processing platforms.
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and agentic workflow patterns.
  • Experience working within an enterprise architecture function or alongside an EA team.
  • Background in common insurance AI capability areas: document extraction, submission triage, claims summarization, underwriting assist, fraud detection, or policy servicing automation.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Delivery: Design and deliver AI-powered automation solutions for prioritized insurance use cases including document data extraction, submission triage and routing, claims summarization, underwriting assistance, and policy servicing automation. Translate business requirements into solution architectures that leverage existing enterprise tools and AI services.
  • Document Intelligence: Architect solutions that extract, classify, and structure data from insurance documents (submissions, ACORD forms, loss runs, demand letters, medical records, policy forms) using LLM-based extraction, OCR, and document processing tools such as Nomad Data (Doc Chat) and Azure AI Document Intelligence.
  • RPA & Intelligent Automation: Design solutions that combine UiPath robotic process automation with AI capabilities to create intelligent workflows—moving beyond traditional rule-based bots toward AI-augmented automation that can handle semi-structured inputs, make routing decisions, and escalate exceptions intelligently.
  • LLM Integration & Prompt Engineering: Leverage enterprise LLM access (via the AI Gateway / Azure AI Foundry / LiteLLM) to build solutions that use commercial foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) for summarization, extraction, classification, and conversational interfaces. Design effective prompts, tool-use patterns, and RAG pipelines—without the need to train or fine-tune models.
  • Cloud-Native Development Patterns: Design solutions that align with our CND (Cloud-Native Development) standards—containerized, API-first, observable, and deployable through our CI/CD pipelines. Ensure automation solutions are built as services with clean API contracts, not as standalone scripts or one-off integrations.
  • Microsoft & Power Platform Integration: Leverage Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and the broader Power Platform ecosystem where appropriate for citizen-developer-accessible automation and digital assistant experiences, ensuring these integrate cleanly with enterprise AI services and governance controls.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work directly with business unit teams, product owners, and development teams across our 37 business units to understand their automation needs, assess feasibility against the AI capability prioritization framework, and deliver solutions that fit their operational context.
  • AI Innovation Lab Contribution: Serve as a key builder within the AI Innovation Lab, rapidly prototyping solutions for business units, running proof-of-concept experiments, and transitioning successful prototypes into production-supported implementations.
  • Solution Governance: Ensure all solutions comply with enterprise architectural standards, security requirements, data governance policies, and responsible AI principles. Participate in architectural reviews and contribute to the evolution of automation and AI solution patterns.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Document solution architectures, integration patterns, and lessons learned. Help build repeatable playbooks that enable other teams to adopt proven automation patterns without starting from scratch.
