About The Position

The Agriculture Loan Assistant works closely with loan applicants to gather essential information and facilitate the application process. This role is responsible for reviewing loan documentation for completeness, executing transactions required to close loans, and ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards. As a key participant in our institution’s sales culture, the Loan Assistant identifies customer needs and provides appropriate referrals or cross-sells for bank products and services.

Requirements

  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills are required to interact effectively with local businesses and farmers.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with local agricultural practices and USDA programs, including the Farm Service Agency’s Guaranteed Loan Program and Industrial/Commercial loan programs.
  • Attention to Detail: Must be highly detail-oriented to ensure all Direct or Guaranteed loan applications are compliant and closed in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Background: Previous experience in the commercial lending process and proficiency with loan software systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lender Support: Work directly with Commercial and Ag Lenders to perform a wide variety of administrative duties that facilitate the growth and maintenance of the existing loan portfolio.
  • Applicant Consultation: Interview applicants to obtain personal and financial data and assist them in the completion of applications.
  • Document Management: Verify and examine the accuracy of loan applications and closing documents, including title certificates, property appraisals, title abstracts, insurance forms, and tax receipts.
  • Loan Lifecycle Management: Oversee the monitoring of loan repayment status, loan security, and the filing of Deeds of Trust and UCC documents.
  • Closing & Funding: Assemble all necessary documentation for loan closings, complete funding transactions, and file required compliance documents.
  • Client Relations: Answer customer questions regarding transactions and contact applicants via mail, telephone, or in person regarding the status of their applications.
  • Sales Integration: Identify customer financial needs to propose appropriate products or services, closing sales directly or referring customers to specialized bank personnel.
