About The Position

Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Experience This position is well suited for someone who is enthusiastic, friendly, committed to education, interest in agriculture and must like public speaking and to engage people in interactive educational/recreational activities.

Requirements

Two-year degree in Education, Interpretation, History or Agricultural Sciences OR the equivalent in other work experience.
Work record that shows reliability, initiative, excellent interpersonal skills and productivity.
Interest in agricultural science and interpretation.
Be willing to continually increase knowledge of agricultural history.
Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid, State of Illinois driver’s license.
Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and DCFS Mandated Reporter Certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children is a plus.

Responsibilities

Effectively communicate orally.
Work outdoors in a farm setting and in varying weather conditions including inclement and severe weather.
Assist with livestock care, milking and other agricultural activities.
Lead weekend, weekday and evening educational recreational programs at Primrose Farm.
Assist with preparation for and presentation of any other interpretive or educational activities that may arise, including special events, summer camps, and traveling programs.
Become knowledgeable about the culture and agricultural history of the Fox River Valley and the St Charles Park District Natural Areas.
Obtain and keep current a Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Assist in the training of volunteers, interns and seasonal employees.
Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties and to support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Assist with maintenance and light construction duties as part of daily operations.
