About The Position

Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Experience This position is well suited for someone who is enthusiastic, friendly, committed to education, interest in agriculture and must like public speaking and to engage people in interactive educational/recreational activities.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in Education, Interpretation, History or Agricultural Sciences OR the equivalent in other work experience.
  • Work record that shows reliability, initiative, excellent interpersonal skills and productivity.
  • Interest in agricultural science and interpretation.
  • Be willing to continually increase knowledge of agricultural history.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid, State of Illinois driver’s license.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and DCFS Mandated Reporter Certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate orally.
  • Work outdoors in a farm setting and in varying weather conditions including inclement and severe weather.
  • Assist with livestock care, milking and other agricultural activities.
  • Lead weekend, weekday and evening educational recreational programs at Primrose Farm.
  • Assist with preparation for and presentation of any other interpretive or educational activities that may arise, including special events, summer camps, and traveling programs.
  • Become knowledgeable about the culture and agricultural history of the Fox River Valley and the St Charles Park District Natural Areas.
  • Obtain and keep current a Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Assist in the training of volunteers, interns and seasonal employees.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties and to support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
  • Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with maintenance and light construction duties as part of daily operations.
