About The Position

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 12 states with over 3,000 employees. RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. We have 86 quarries and 56 asphalt plants across Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. Rogers Group is currently seeking an individual for the Aggregate Foreman position at our Red Bay, Alabama quarry. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, or similar is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in operations or engineering as well as significant experience in aggregate processing procedures and surface quarrying.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements and an understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
  • Possess strong basic math knowledge.
  • Basic surveying and mapping skills are required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary.
  • Proven safety record and excellent compliance in MSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to develop strong leadership.
  • Working knowledge of environmental policies, standards, and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Aggflow and Stonemont QC is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an operation with approximately 10 employees.
  • Efficiently supervise production and sales of a 1.2M TPY operation.
  • Ensure the pit and mine activities are achieved to plans.
  • Participate in mine and pit planning.
  • Document and track downtime in the fixed plant as well as bringing new ideas that will increase productivity.
  • Control costs to meet budgets and reduce costs to achieve savings.
  • Manage daily production of crushed stone to ensure weekly/monthly goals are achieved while ensuring a safe work environment and meeting quality control requirements.
  • Effectively manage staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and providing development through training and accountability.
  • Participate in hiring, coaching, progressive discipline and training of hourly crew.
  • Identify deficiencies and implement a plan for continuous improvement.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company and Government policies and regulations.
  • Actively reach out and be involved in the local community.
