Overview: Oversees all aspects of Participation Servicing for an assigned portfolio where the Bank sells or buys participation loans. Ensures all payments, advances, rate changes, billing, participation notices, and funds between banks are exchanged timely. Connects servicing activities to the business front office and serves as liaison to lead and participating banks. Primary Responsibilities: Review work received from customer, lead bank or business line. Use independent judgement to outline and deliver instructions to the Servicing team to process the request and complete the work in the commercial lending system. Maintain accurate accounting of daily sweep activity and ensure accurate weekly reconciliation before engaging participating banks with settling accounts. May create all notifications for participating banks, transcribing customer activity processed at M&T Bank and the participant's share of that activity including payment, rate changes, advances. May wire funds to Lead Banks honoring M&T's commitment to participate in any lending activity requested by borrower under executed loan agreements. Manage all customer facing exceptions. Ensure accurate accounting of transactions required to keep portfolio up to date. Work with servicer to correct identified errors and ensure accurate customer billing and interest accruals. Monitor incoming wires and match outgoing or incoming notices received from Lead Banks or sent to Participating Banks ensuring payments are applied to correct accounts. Stay up to date on all current processes and procedures; adapt to changing working environment; work with Lead Portfolio Liaison to update procedures as necessary. Understand all nuances of current and new portfolios. Ensure processing is completed to standards and portfolios are being serviced in accordance with Loan and/or Participation Agreements. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: This position provides a primary role in leading the day-to-day customer care activities for M&T Bank's Commercial Loan Syndication and Participation Loan portfolio, the most sophisticated lending instruments the Bank offers including all Commercial Loan Products. The borrowers are highly sophisticated financial experts creating a high level of variability requiring constant attention. Most processes are manual, requiring a highly qualified analyst and customer care incumbent to properly manage the accounts.
