About The Position

This is a provisional appointment. Reporting to the Director of the Public Service Unit, the Liaison Agent will work in the Public Service Unit of the Licensing Division. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to all Public Service functions, including the units/sections formerly known as Insurance Reports, Licensing, and Hackney Carriage. The Liaison Agent will also be responsible for listening to and resolving complaints and inquiries from customers in person and over the telephone. The Liaison Agent may assist at the Information Desk and provide information regarding the location of departments and offices within Police Headquarters as well as directing customers to the appropriate destination. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have at least three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paid professional experience in an administrative office environment.
  • Ability to effectively convey information

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and organizational skills.
  • Use of such machines as microfilm facsimile, CAD terminal, scanning equipment, and other standard office equipment will be necessary.
  • Criminal Record Check Required
  • A Pre Employment Drug Test is Required
  • BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant Boston Police Department Rules and Procedures, the Boston Street Directory and District Book are helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inquiries and obtain information for the general public, Boston Police Department personnel, and authorized external agencies regarding the processing of requests for reports, licenses, permits, fingerprints, and photographs.
  • Record, compile, enter, and retrieve necessary information either by hand or using a computer
  • File and maintain records
  • Transmit information or documents to customers using a computer, mail, or facsimile
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned within the Licensing Division.
  • Listen to and resolve complaints and inquiries from customers in person and over the telephone.
  • Assist at the Information Desk and provide information regarding the location of departments and offices within Police Headquarters as well as directing customers to the appropriate destination.
  • Performs related work as required.
