About The Position

About Gathering Kids Gathering Kids Afterschool Mentorship Program LLC partners with local school districts to provide students with a safe, engaging, and enriching afterschool experience. Our mission is to inspire youth through mentorship, creativity, and hands-on learning that promotes character development, teamwork, and personal growth. Position Summary The Afterschool Program Instructor plays a key role in leading small-group activities that encourage curiosity, confidence, and creativity. This position blends mentorship, STEM exploration, art projects, public speaking, and career-readiness activities to help students develop essential life and learning skills in a positive, structured environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in education, youth mentorship, or enrichment settings.
  • Strong classroom and behavior-management skills.
  • Passion for teaching, creativity, and student growth.
  • Ability to follow structured lesson plans and organizational guidelines.
  • Must pass fingerprinting and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students at all times to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
  • Follow all Gathering Kids safety procedures, emergency protocols, and communication policies.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and hazard-free workspaces.
  • Report behavior or safety concerns promptly to the Program Manager.
  • Lead engaging activities that build skills in STEM, art, public speaking, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Encourage exploration and problem-solving through project-based learning.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and grade levels (K–6).
  • Reinforce positive behavior and student participation through consistent classroom management.
  • Model respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm in every interaction.
  • Encourage students to express ideas confidently and collaborate with peers.
  • Help students make connections between learning and future career or life skills.
  • Work closely with site leads and fellow instructors to ensure program flow and consistency.
  • Communicate effectively using Brightwheel, radios, and other approved tools.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and transitions between activities.
  • Follow all organizational guidelines, daily schedules, and behavioral expectations.
  • Attend required training sessions and review daily updates from site leadership.
  • Represent Gathering Kids with professionalism and integrity.
