About The Position

GCG Automation & Factory Solutions is currently seeking a Service Proposal Engineer to join our growing Field Services team! As our Service Proposal Engineer, you’ll play a key part in shaping and delivering automation aftermarket solutions. You’ll partner closely with Field Service Management, engineering, and sales teams to develop accurate, well-scoped technical services proposals that support service, retrofit, and small automation projects. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys digging into technical details, building cost- and scope-driven proposals, and supporting customers and internal teams with clarity and precision. While the role is remote, candidates must be located in the Cleveland, Ohio area to support semi-regular in-person collaboration with management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field — or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in automation, service engineering, proposal engineering, or technical support roles
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, I/O, and drives
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors, safety products, and connectivity solutions (Turck, Banner, or comparable brands)
  • Exposure to industrial robotics or collaborative robots (Fanuc, Universal Robots, AMRs, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of project coordination or project lifecycle concepts
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and responsiveness
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Siemens automation platforms (TIA Portal, S7) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical and commercial quotations and proposals for automation aftermarket services
  • Support the definition of technical scope, cost estimates, and lead times in collaboration with Field Service Management and engineering teams
  • Assist procurement teams with supply-side bills of material, cost buildups, and lead-time requirements
  • Provide technical support related to Siemens PLCs, HMIs, drives, and industrial networks
  • Support selection and application of industrial sensors, I/O, and safety products (e.g., Turck, Banner, or comparable brands)
  • Provide technical input for aftermarket robotics projects involving Fanuc, Universal Robots, Autonomous Mobile Robots, Yaskawa, Anscer, or similar platforms
  • Review basic electrical drawings, I/O lists, and system documentation to support customer specifications and application guidance
  • Partner with sales teams by providing technical inputs and proposal support
  • Assist with the coordination of small service or retrofit projects, including schedules, documentation, and status updates
  • Maintain proposal templates, cost sheets, and service-related documentation
  • Pursue ongoing technical development through training, reading, and continuing education
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement for customers and internal teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
