About The Position

This position is responsible for: Leading children’s activities in and after school program including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children snacks; assists in leading activities and maintains the cleanliness of the program areas Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares and processes supply orders; Maintains the after school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability necessities of the programs. Key Responsibilities: Provides constant care of the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Institutes and follows lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities. Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children’s safety in utilizing the same. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive relaxed atmosphere during children’s mealtime encouraging conversation. Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques. Maintains the after-school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any laundry, money and supplies necessary for programs. Cleans kitchen, classrooms, table, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.). Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in program activities; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner initiating the accident report. Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents; informs parents of child’s progress and activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E. D.
  • Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or school, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
