About The Position

Summary/Primary Purpose: To protect, guide, stimulate, and help the children in the After School and Summer Day Camp program. To provide wholesome, character-building programming & supervision to school-age children.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year working with school-age children.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, to assist in building a relationship with the children and their parent/guardian.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Must pass all applicable background checks.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.
  • Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification and must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
  • Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to frequently be in the sun and/or outside in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program director with program preparation.
  • Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Serve meals and supervise the children during meal periods.
  • Oversee specified age group and the daily activities each day.
  • Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, fieldtrips, etc.
  • Enforces and adheres to the facility policies of no swearing, no alcoholic drinking, no drug use and no violence.
  • Follow progressive disciplinary procedures when needed.
  • Document and report accidents using the EER process.
  • End of day cleaning, organizing as needed.
  • Driving is an essential role of the position.
  • All other duties as assigned.
