After School Peer Mentor
About The Position
Salt Lake County Youth Services provides support to schools and families through Afterschool Programs, Summer Programming, and Parental Support. Our programs are offered on site at schools located in Kearns, Magna, West Valley City, and Millcreek. Our goals are to keep kids safe, provide healthy adult role models, teach new skills, and give youth confidence in themselves through a variety of enrichment activities. These goals are achieved by working closely with school administration and ensuring our staff are active participants in helping to make positive changes within the communities served. As an Afterschool Program Peer Mentor your team will work directly with youth from diverse backgrounds in a school setting to provide a safe and healthy environment by: Being a peer mentor to youth using Positive Behavior Support techniques while assisting with guiding groups of up to 15 youth. Assist with daily activities based on school day support and enrichment focus areas including STEM, Arts and Culture, Character Education, Healthy Living, and College and Career Exploration resulting in the enrichment of the youth's education and daily life activities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
Responsibilities
- Being a peer mentor to youth using Positive Behavior Support techniques while assisting with guiding groups of up to 15 youth.
