About The Position

The Family Services Caseworker provides prevention and intervention, along with case management services to tribal children and their families that fall under ICWA guidelines. Services will also be provided to adults in need of case-management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work field required.
  • Current Social Work License through the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
  • At least one year of experience in a social services field.
  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver license and be insurable by the GTB insurance carrier.
  • Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skill are critical
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect
  • Uses judgment in identifying and selecting the most appropriate procedures to use or in determining which of several established alternatives to use
  • Utilizes established procedures and specific guidelines available through resources including, but not limited to procedural manuals, textbooks, and work samples
  • Situations not covered by precedents or guidelines are referred to the supervisor. In these cases, oral explanations and guidance are provided so that an understanding of the departmental function is gained.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules , procedures, and administration is required
  • General proficiency in computers and other office machines
  • Exceptional detail and follow-up skills
  • Effectively establishes priorities and meets deadlines
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Ethical Standards of this position must be adhered to.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment.
  • Adherence to strict company policy in regard to confidentiality is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Social Work preferred.
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Current Social Work License through the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Office or ability to obtain Licensure within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate services with other tribal programs and/or county and state agencies such as mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, FIA and other related social services
  • Assess the needs of children and their families and with family input, develop an initial corrective plan with goals and objectives along with family support plans, and aftercare treatment plans, locate age appropriate resources and make appropriate referrals
  • Maintain regular contact with assigned families in accordance with the program guidelines
  • Assure that the children's safety and well being always comes first
  • Participate in required case-related activities such as court hearings, pre-hearing conferences, and in-service trainings, and so on
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call status to be shared with other workers within the program
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings, case conferences, and in-service trainings and so on
  • Accommodate his/her work schedule to client's availability
  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit informational articles to organizational newsletters
  • Assist in completion of monthly, quarterly and year-end budget reports and narrative reports
  • Facilitate weekly therapeutic groups for clients of the program as directed by the AFS Supervisor
  • Provide education to the community and other GTB Departments on Child and Elder abuse, and on advanced planning
  • Assist clients in petitioning for Guardian and Conservatorships
  • Serve as client advocate by working with courts, hospitals, nursing homes, foster homes, police and other tribal services
  • Develop and maintain clinical records in accordance with Tribal, State and Federal regulations.
  • Pursue and attend trainings as required or necessary, i.e. evidenced based therapeutic models, trainings provided by Agency on Aging on veteran's benefits, health, social services, retirement programs, etc to keep skills updated.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality as per Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and complete HIPAA compliance training.
