About The Position

The AFJROTC Instructor is responsible for teaching and leading the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the high school level in accordance with guidelines established by the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps headquarters. The instructor provides leadership education, character development, aerospace science instruction, and citizenship training while serving as a positive role model and mentor to cadets.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of conducting workshops and trainings for the purpose of maintaining instructions/specification of Air Force or institution.
  • Skills of strong communciation and organization.
  • Strong background in leadership development and mentoring.
  • Ability to collaborate with administrators for the purpose of achieving departmental program and district goals.
  • Ability to prepares teaching outline for course of study in conjunction with current state standards, and appropriate feedback for homework assignments.
  • Ability to administers tests to evaluate progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of students' progress.
  • Ability to participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training Workshops.
  • Ability to instructs students enrolled in program for the purpose of meeting AFJROTC requirements.
  • Ability to encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Ability to work effectively with high school students from deiverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to coordinate the AFJROTC unit for the purpose of supporting the cadet corps mission of citizenship development.
  • Eligible for certification by AFJROTC headquarters.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided

Nice To Haves

  • Prior instructional or training experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with youth programs, preferred.
  • Familiarity with high school educational environments, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach AFJROTC curriculum including aerospace science, leadership education, wellness, and citizenship.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with AFJROTC program requirements and school district standards.
  • Assess student performance and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Integrate character education, teamwork, discipline, and leadership development into daily instruction.
  • Supervise and mentor cadet leadership staff and student-led activities.
  • Organize and oversee extracurricular activities such as drill team, color guard, academic competitions, and community service events.
  • Plan and coordinate field trips, military base visits, and leadership development events.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to AFJROTC policies and procedures.
  • Manage program inventory including uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain required documentation and reports in compliance with AFJROTC headquarters and school district requirements.
  • Prepare and manage program budgets in coordination with school administration.
  • Coordinate annual inspections and program evaluations.
  • Serve as liaison between the school, community organizations, and AFJROTC headquarters.
  • Promote the AFJROTC program within the school and community.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
