About The Position

Adult Foster Care (AFC) Group Home Manager - Grand Haven, Michigan Heritage Homes, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and qualified person to oversee operations of our 6-bed adult foster care (AFC) home for adults that have intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities in Grand Haven, Michigan. This position manages staff, ensures resident rights are upheld, and maintains a high standard of care for all people served. The manager plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere for both residents and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult foster care group home living environments and working with persons that have intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as supervisory experience. The program supervisor is directly responsible for supervising the provision of the daily needs of residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as providing direct services if scheduling needs make it necessary. This position trains, schedules, and supervises direct support staff to promote a safe, caring environment and to ensure the care prescribed in each resident’s plan of service. The program supervisor advocates and consults with case management, clinical support staff, family/guardians, and other agencies to address the needs, goals, and dreams of each resident. The program supervisor assists the corporation in the administrative responsibilities of the home to meet contract, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience working with persons that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and the completion of training as approved by MDHHS
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, State and CMH personnel and medical service providers
  • Willingness to be flexible in scheduling and to be on-call for emergencies
  • Basic typing and computer skills; proficiency in typing, composing emails, and using Microsoft Word and Excel, is preferred.
  • Demonstration of reliability and trustworthiness is necessary
  • Clear criminal history and good driving record required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and TB test
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have sufficient visual and auditory acuity with or without corrective lenses/aids to observe clients and detect signs of changes in client behavior, adverse medication reactions, or other activity or event requiring intervention (Must meet the essential job requirements for supervisor. Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of management or supervisory experience in any field, preferably in group home environment
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field and 2 years of experience working with persons that have developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical disabilities or aged.
