Amentum is looking for a qualified Aerospace Structural Welder to support our San Diego, California location. Job Summary: The Aerospace Structural Welder will perform standard cutting and welding operations to include by not limited to repair work and new fabrication activities based in carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized pipe, plate, structural shapes, etc. Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools. Some metal working experience preferred such as the operation of a metal shear, brake, pipe bending, and various cutting tools. The incumbent may also design, weld, heat-treat, fabricate, and machine precision tools, components, and assemblies for related Ground Support Equipment (SE). The incumbent may advise about metal machining, welding and designs, manufactures, or modifies special precision tools, gauges, dies, and fixtures to facilitate welding or other shops supported. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, crawl or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and various weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. Position may require travel.
