About The Position

Amentum is looking for a qualified Aerospace Structural Welder to support our San Diego, California location. Job Summary: The Aerospace Structural Welder will perform standard cutting and welding operations to include by not limited to repair work and new fabrication activities based in carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized pipe, plate, structural shapes, etc. Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools. Some metal working experience preferred such as the operation of a metal shear, brake, pipe bending, and various cutting tools. The incumbent may also design, weld, heat-treat, fabricate, and machine precision tools, components, and assemblies for related Ground Support Equipment (SE). The incumbent may advise about metal machining, welding and designs, manufactures, or modifies special precision tools, gauges, dies, and fixtures to facilitate welding or other shops supported. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, crawl or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and various weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. Position may require travel. Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
May be required to pass a U.S. Government background security check.
Must be able to meet and maintain all base access and contract security requirements.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security/SCI Security Clearance.
Pre-employment drug screening is required.
Ability to stand for a prolong period of time performing repetitive tasks.
Ability to work independently with minimal to no supervision.
4 years' recent experience and proficiency in the following weld processes': GTAW-Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel / 1-6G/F GMAW- Steel- 1-6G/F SMAW- Steel / 1-6G/F Oxyfuel brazing
Will perform various field level and limited sustainment maintenance actions on various Ground Support Equipment.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks & job qualification(s).
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, shop drawings and schematics..

Nice To Haves

Some metal working experience preferred such as the operation of a metal shear, brake, pipe bending, and various cutting tools.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of maintenance repairs on a variety of equipment.
Knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement.
Time management and prioritization skills.
Knowledge of Analog Machinery i.e., lathe, drill press, milling machine.
GTAW, SMAW, Brazing & GMAW- currently certified.
