Located in Kent Washington , Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, and Teflon. Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. Position Summary: Selected candidates for Paint Mixer Level I (entry level) position will receive training specific to the receipt, labeling, stocking and rotation of paint products as well as area tooling and expendable materials such as mixing containers, paint filters, cleaning supplies and area specific tooling. They will be instructed regarding the material ageing process including the removal and disposition of expired product. These individuals will receive basic instruction regarding the access and use of all written and electronic data regarding the mixing and documentation of numerous aerospace and defense coating systems. These materials are mixed on demand for subsequent application to customer product specific to a variety of OEM’s such as the Boeing Co., Bombardier, Cessna, Sikorsky, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin among others. They will gain familiarity with the use of viscometers such as Zahn and Ford cups for determining reduction ratios and the use of analytical gram scales for the proportioning and adjustment of component ratios as well as the use of pneumatic and electric paint agitators. These coating systems run the gamut from polyurethanes, polyesters and epoxies to Teflon’s, elastomeric, intumescent and EMI/RFI conductive finishes among much else. Candidates must be s elf-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as adherence to organization safety rules and regulations.
