About The Position

Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented problem-solver to join our modeling and simulation team as an Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Charlottesville, VA. You will play a valuable part in developing and testing models of aerospace systems, to include air-launched weapons; ballistic missile systems; avionics; hypersonic vehicles; and guidance, navigation, and controls across a wide range of projects and programs. Requirements

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years applicable experience (or M.S. with 2+ years)
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess a Secret Clearance with the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models
  • Experience with modeling missile systems
  • Experience in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process for aerospace systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel when needed by the program

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles
  • Experience in C++ or Python
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git
  • Experience integrating and testing GNC algorithms
  • Experience in ITASE or AFSIM

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
  • Document model performance against requirements.
  • Document algorithm design.
  • Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
  • Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
  • Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area.
