The role ensures engine repairs, modifications and overhauls comply with FAA regulations, military technical data, OEM requirements and contractual obligations while meeting safety, quality, cost and schedule objectives.

Requirements

  • Must have a strong understanding of turboshaft and turbofan engine systems.
  • Must be able to interpret military Technical Orders, OEM manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Must have string analytical, problem-solving and technical writing skills.
  • Must be able to work cross-functionally in a high-tempo MRO environment.
  • Must be able to support non-conformance resolution, repair approval and configuration control.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among, co-workers and supervisors
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. or more regularly with assistance occasionally
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively

  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions 
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting military aircraft engine maintenance, overhaul or repair is required.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance is required.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and DOT pre-employment drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations. Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations and as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting defense-related programs (DoD, FMS or defense contractors), including familiarity with engineering approval processes (DER, ODA), field investigations or deployed operations preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for overhaul, repair and modification of military aircraft engines (fixed and rotary wing).
  • Evaluate engine discrepancies, damage and serviceability findings; develop repair dispositions using approved FAA, military and OEM technical data.
  • Interpret and apply Technical Orders (TO’s), Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthy Directives and Military Specifications.
  • Author and approve engineering repair instructions, deviations and substantiating data within FAR Part 145 limitations.
  • Support root cause analysis of engine removals, in-flight shutdowns, premature failings and shop findings.
  • Coordinates with Quality, Production and Supply Chain to resolve technical and configurative issues.
  • Supports engine teardown, build-up, test and return-to-service activities.
  • Assist with new engine program introduction, tooling certification, process development and capability expansion.
  • Support FAA surveillance, customer and military audits, ensuring compliance with FAR Part 145 and contract requirements.
  • Contribute to reliability improvement, cost reduction and turnaround time (TAT) initiatives.
  • Provide on-the-floor technical guidance to technicians and mentors to junior engineers.
  • Assists in on-the-job training of other personnel in the completion of their responsibilities.
  • Participates in improvement efforts to improve turn time, reduce errors or reduce costs using continuous improvement tools.
  • Knowledge of FAA FAR Part 145, applicable FAR’s and military airworthy standards.
  • Understanding of export control compliance (ITEAR / EAR) as applied to military programs.
  • Ability to work with FAA, military and OEM-approved data environments.
  • Timely communicates with Chief Inspector concerning any quality processes.
  • Utilizes the electronic database to complete transactions.
  • Keeps a clean work environment using continuous improvement tools.
  • Maintains an understanding of the methodology employed by bureaucratic and government organizations and skills to deal with the requirements and systems imposed by these organizations.
  • Travels as needed
  • Confers with manager to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvement
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures, regulatory requirements and personal policies (safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as required
