About The Position

The NISC IV program has an opening for Aeronautical Information Specialists supporting the FAA in its Oklahoma City location. The Aeronautical Information Specialist provides support to the FAA Aeronautical Information Services Group (AJV-A). The contractor must provide technical expertise, transition support, and project implementation service to the Federal Aviation Administration in support of the national database.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, Aviation, or Air Traffic Control with at least 4 or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for determining qualifications.
  • Airspace and Procedures background (Instrument Flight Procedures)
  • Air Traffic Control Experience (FAA, Contractor or Military)
  • Commercial Instrument Rated Pilot (Military or Civilian)
  • Certified Instrument Flight Instructor.
  • Previous experience with FAA or DoD terminal instrument procedures (TERPS).

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP) data for current and pending approved, and suspended procedures as well as plans-on-file for procedures for future airports/runways.
  • Verifying the information in the database matches the publications in the 28- and 56-day publication cycles.
  • Providing updated information for the following: Airports Runways Special Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP’s) Navigational Aids (NAVAIDs) Airways EnRoute Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) updates Departure Procedures Standard Terminal Arrivals (STARs)
  • Assisting with obstacle position verification
  • Maintaining records of actions processed through the IFP Impact Team
  • Participating in IFP Impact Team meetings and supporting as needed via notes and reports
